John Hancock

He was born on 1/23/1737 in Braintree (now Quincy), Massachusets. His father was John Hancock, and his mother was Mary Hawke. He got married to Dorthy Quincy II, and had two kids. one was Lydia, but she died the year she was born. his boy was John, but he died when he was nine.

Early Life

Both his grandfather and his father were clergy-men. He was adopted by his uncle Thomas, from his father. His uncle let him go to  Harvard when his father would not let him attend school. After he left collage, he was entered as a clerk in the  outing house of his uncle. He stayed there until 1760. Hancock then visited England to learn new information, and to  meet very powerful people. In the year 1764 he returned to America. His uncle later died.

Contribution to his country

John Hancock led the way, as president of the congress, and with what he wrote, he had determined that his name should never be forgotten.He also was one of the 56 people to sign the Declaration of Independence

He died 10/8/1793
